gourd art September 9, 2009 Luann G. Robertson (California) I enjoyed this book.It had beautiful examples of gourd work. Some of it was very intricate. I might have preferred a few simpler examples of the art on the gourds.
This book is GREAT! August 20, 2009 Pat Mapes (Mineola, TX United States) This book is really GREAT! Tools and techniques are well illustrated and the creativity is astounding. I can't wait to get all these new dyes and get busy gourding! These are is some of most exciting new ideas I have seen in a long time.
Great book on what you can do with gourds! June 30, 2009 Marti (Dayton, OH) This book is very informative, with great ideas on how to work on gourds. Plenty of pictures, with how to do it information. This book is a must for anyone that likes this craft!
more a product use guide and overpriced at that January 18, 2009 Tess Laucus (Benton, ME United States) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I found that the information in this book could just as easily have been made into a brochure to accompany the gourd dyes when you purchase them. Yes, the projects are pretty, but there aren't enough of them to merit the price of the book. The dyes need to be heat set and some products mix with others-some don't and the book lacks a lot of important information on using these dyes and to me that also makes the book overpriced. Much is made of the fact that they dry slower than leather dyes and that that makes them superior, but it just makes them different and they have their own set of peculiarities. So if you are new to crafting with gourds and weren't lucky enough to catch the instructions for some of these projects at[..] before they decided to sell them on dvd, than this book will introduce you to the dyes but there are other book that are much more detailed and inspiring than this one

The best information on the new ink dyes I have seen so far. Lots of ideas for southwest but you can always adapt the information for what you like to do.
