Product Description
A New York real estate tycoon plunges to his death on a Manhattan sidewalk. A trophy wife with a past survives a narrow escape from a brazen attack. Mobsters and moguls with no shortage of reasons to kill trot out their alibis. And then, in the suffocating grip of a record heat wave, comes another shocking murder and a sharp turn in a tense journey into the dirty little secrets of the wealthy. Secrets that prove to be fatal. Secrets that lay hidden in the dark until one NYPD detective shines a light. Mystery sensation Richard Castle, blockbuster author of the wildly best-selling Derrick Storm novels, introduces his newest character, NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat. Tough, sexy, professional, Nikki Heat carries a passion for justice as she leads one of New York City's top homicide squads. She's hit with an unexpected challenge when the commissioner assigns superstar magazine journalist Jameson Rook to ride along with her to research an article on New York's Finest. Pulitzer Prize-winning Rook is as much a handful as he is handsome. His wise-cracking and meddling aren't her only problems. As she works to unravel the secrets of the murdered real estate tycoon, she must also confront the spark between them. The one called heat.

The Best September 5, 2010 Barnesy I loved loved loved this book!!!! It took a whole month to get here and just two days to read it :D
poor choice of print September 3, 2010 cthomas If I had picked this book up and physically saw the type set, I would not have bought it. The story is what I expected because I've been watching the TV show but I didn't finish the written version because of the extra small type.
Not that good. September 2, 2010 Valerie A. Miller (York, PA) To start off with something good, this book is a lot of fun IF you watch the TV show. Which I do. However, the book is very short (much thinner than the TV series shows with its props), and it reads like a TV show, not like a modern mystery novel.
Hot Stuff August 31, 2010 tiger (Texas) Heat Wave capitalizes on the success of the Castle TV series. It lives up to its origin. It is witty,, suspenseful and engaging.
And the heat goes on August 30, 2010 M McCall (Austin, Texas) "Heat Wave" is a fun, easy-to-read book that's just like an episode of the TV series "Castle," only the characters' names have been changed. The murder/mystery part of the plot was predictable, but the relationships between the characters and the witty dialog really kept the story moving. The story did have a couple of problems, however. First, the "real" Richard Castle would never have written about Nikki Heat's flashback to the night her mother was murdered. Castle rarely seems to take things seriously, but underneath he's a pretty sensitive guy, and he would have respected Kate's privacy about that painful subject. I also don't think he would have repeatedly referred to Nikki's blushes or fluttering heart because Kate would have taken him down verbally, if not physically. Second (and this is a MAJOR complaint) the type size in the paperback is ridiculously small and the print extends so far toward the binding that it's practically impossible to read the book. Still, I persevered, and really enjoyed "Heat Wave."
